Joke Rabbit Privacy Policy
Overview
Joke Rabbit helps comedians write and organise comedy material (bits and sets), learn writing techniques, and optionally subscribe to remove ads. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Password (stored securely by Firebase Authentication; we do not store plain-text passwords)
Your account is linked to a unique user ID used to sync your data.
Content you create
When you use the app, we store in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore:
- Bits — titles, body text, tags, and maturity level
- Sets — set names, line order, connections, and set-local bit copies you edit
- Feedback — messages you submit in Settings, plus your email (if available) and platform (Android/iOS)
This content is tied to your account so it syncs across devices when you sign in.
Subscription and purchases
If you subscribe to Headliner:
- Payment is processed by Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). We do not receive your full payment card details.
- RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription status linked to your user ID so we can turn ads off and show your plan in the app.
Advertising (Open Mic tier only)
If you use the free Open Mic tier, Google AdMob may collect device advertising identifiers, IP address and device information, and ad interaction data. See Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google uses this data.
Microphone and speech recognition
If you use voice dictation when writing bits or sets, the app requests microphone access. Speech is converted to text using your device’s speech recognition service. Audio is not stored on our servers; only the text you save in the app is stored in Firestore.
Local data on your device
The app stores some preferences locally (e.g. onboarding progress, subscription tier cache) using on-device storage.
How we use information
- Provide and sync your bits, sets, and account
- Process subscriptions and remove ads for Headliner subscribers
- Show interstitial ads on the Open Mic tier
- Respond to feedback you send us
- Operate, maintain, and improve the app
We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention and deletion
- Your bits, sets, and feedback remain until you delete them or delete your account.
- You can delete your account in Settings → Cancel account. This permanently deletes your Firebase account, Firestore data, local app data, and requests deletion of your RevenueCat subscriber record.
- Subscription billing through Google Play must be cancelled separately in your Google Play subscription settings if you have an active Headliner plan.

Children
Joke Rabbit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use industry-standard services (Firebase, encrypted connections) to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
International users
Your data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate (including the United States and European Union regions used by Google Firebase).
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date.
